Elizabeth Street’s Los Angeles moms share their girls night out ideas and dish on where they like to go in the City of Angels.
Oh yes it’s ladies night and the feeling’s right… Sometimes we just have to kick up our heels and let the boys manage the household for a few hours. Good friends, conversation, and a glass of vino can really breathe life back into our often-tired souls. So these über-cool mamas share their girls night out ideas and tell us where to go in Los Angeles for a night off to catch up with their bosom buddies.
I always love a great dinner out with girlfriends. In town I love to go to Spago Beverly Hills. The lavash and Wolfgang Puck’s new farm-to-table menu is terrific. The outdoor garden with the fireplaces has a relaxed comfortable vibe. I also love a night out in Malibu. I love Mr. Chow Malibu, the food is great and so is the environment. Both places are fun because I always run into people I didn’t expect to see. —Lara Shriftman, founder at Harrison&Shriftman and author of Party Confidential
I love dinner at the Sunset Tower in West Hollywood! —Minnie Mortimer, designer of www.minniemortimer.com
Girls night out? Freedom drive to Malibu! Nobu opened on Carbon Beach and it’s epic. Fab food. Great energy. Full bar. And there’s nothing better than their magical covered outdoor area with crashing waves in front of you. Have a blast and feel like you all snuck away on a mini-vaca night together. —Shana Zappa, author
I love a ladies night at Voda Spa. You can steam, sauna, swim in the heated salt-water pool, get a massage and a facial. Afterwards, we get Russian food and vodka cocktails at the attached restaurant. It’s the perfect way to unwind and catch up. It’s the kind of spa where no one yells at you for gossiping loudly in the hot tub. —Deborah Schoeneman, TV writer and journalist
I recently joined 41 Ocean—a supper club on the Westside which is a fun spot to meet up for drinks. I also love the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel to meet up with my girlfriends. —Hillary Thomas, interior designer
We always meet at The Dime on a Thursday night. My good friend DJ Michelle Pesce spins old school hip-hop or ’80s, which is perfect for reminiscing over cocktails! —Monique Jones, publicist
I love hitting up Soho House in L.A. with my best girlfriends for an early dinner because it’s the prettiest room in the city with the best view. The minute I sit under the olive trees and grab a glass of wine, I instantly mellow out. Everyone likes to go out early now that we all have kids and it’s just busy enough to feel fun without being too loud and packed. After all, when you have two boys at home, a break from loud is nice. —Thea Andrews, host at Insider
