Postcard from St. Barts

It’s the island life for Cecilia Pelloux and her family

As founder and CEO of her own company, My Lola PR, Cecilia Pelloux can bring her work with her, a setup which is not wasted on this continent-hopping mom. With her husband and daughter, she divides her time between Moscow, Aix-en-Provence, New York, and the Caribbean paradise of St. Barts, which has functioned as home-base for the last two years. The working mom says her four year-old, Lola, thrives on the “freedomv and safety” of island life. Though still a bit swim-shy, her daughter is fearless when it comes to jet skis and otherwise active all day with dancing and tennis lessons. The island is a haven for wellness, and Cecilia counts her Pilates instructor and local beauty therapist as St. Barts essentials. For visitors, the local notes that New Years on the harbor is “magical,” but her hometown is at its best come February, when the weather is perfect and December crowds have come and gone. Shop

“You don’t need much in St. Barts,” Cecilia cautions, but for stylish sun dresses Poupette satisfies both moms and little girls. For those immaterial purchases, she frequents Ligne Spa at the divinely luxurious Le Sereno Hotel.

Eat

“When eating with Lola, I love to have lunch at Hotel Taiwana says Cecilia, “for the food, the pool, the view, Flamand beach, and the team.” When without the kids, she recommends l’Isola, “a nighttime restaurant” for a romantic time. Or, for a unique and exotic nightlife experience, try club Le Ti, “to have fun.”

Sleep

“I would highly recommend renting a villa when you come here with your kids,” says Cecilia. “It’s so easy and you have an amazing service, and Wimco Villas offers amazing service and a concierge team.”

Do

Go to the top of Governeur Beach and ride at the Horse Camp found there: “You are surrounded by a magnificent view, and you just feel freedom on earth.” And, she adds an insider’s tip: “Try the Flyboard with Matt from St Barth Jet Ski Rental in Gustavia. You’ll never forget it!”
