Fuel Up For The 2014 Winter Olympics With 12 Russian Recipes

Beginning on February 7, you’ll have an opportunity to watch the best of the best compete in the XXII Olympic Winter Games. We’re all about getting into the spirit, and a big part of that means cooking for the occasion. The Sochi Olympics got us hankering for all of our Russian favorites, particularly warming borscht finished with a dollop of creamy sour cream, pierogies served with caramelized sweet onions and, of course, Russian tea cakes.

From specialty hot chocolate to nut loaf cake that couldn’t be easier to make, we’ve culled ten supremely Russian dishes that are tasty to the last bite. If you thought you’d never get your kids to eat their greens, try serving them up a steaming bowl of cabbage soup with homemade meatballs.
