RACHEL ZOE

OCCUPATION: Fashion designer and stylist

MY STYLE: My style is very classic, with a hint of sixties and seventies. I love maxi dresses and skirts, wide leg pants, and flowy tops. But you can definitely catch me in a tailored blazer (probably Chanel), tuxedo pants, or a shift dress.

I LOVE L.A. BECAUSE: The weather is always nice, which is so important, now that my favorite thing in life is taking my son on walks!

BodyFactory

Juice bar meets boutique at BodyFactory, which offers a range of generously sized smoothies and unique gifts. Beverages contain no added sugar (we especially love the “Show smoothie”), and both locations are pet-friendly.

Planet Blue

Planet Blue has been building a loyal following since it opened its first boutique in 1995. With several stores across Los Angeles, its clothing and accessories helped define California chic, thanks largely to the vast selection of swimsuits and other beach-ready wears.

Satine

Reminiscent of a Victorian home, this warmly-decorated boutique  carries a diverse, extensive set  of labels. Owner Jeannie Lee makes sure the shop never runs out of offbeat favorites such as MM6 by Maison Martin Margiela, Cats by Tsumori Chisato, and Maisonette 1977.

The Little Door

It may be hard to spot (marked only by an umbrella on the valet booth), but it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for this L.A. eatery. With four dining rooms, each with a different theme, The Little Door allows for a unique escape. We recommend the heirloom tomato and farro salad with white sea bass, lamb shank tajine, and other inclusions in the French Moroccan Sunday special.

Malibu Beach Inn

Located on exclusive Carbon Beach, also known as Billionaire’s Beach, this 60-room inn feels more like a private getaway than an ocean-side resort. Every detail has been thoughtfully considered, from in-room yoga instruction to the hand-selected California wines in your mini-fridge.

Taverna Tony

For decades, Taverna Tony has impeccably combined traditional Greek cuisine (arguably the best in Los Angeles) with a relaxed California atmosphere. Tucked insite the Malibu County Mart, this eatery is undoubteldy a local favorite.  Dishes to try: Lamb kleftiko, spanakopita, tiropita, tavern sala.

Hugo’s

Focusing on fresh, healthy food, Hugo’s provides delicious, traditional fare, as well as a variety of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free items. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has all-day breakfast items.

Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

This coffee chain, pushing 50-years-old, is a favorite for good reason. Coffee drinks are made to order, and we also love the signature ice-blended drinks and Swedish berry iced tea. In addition to beverages, Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf carries a variety of pastries and snacks.

Sunset Tower Hotel

Checking into this Art Deco landmark is the fastest way to feel like a Hollywood star. Each room has floor-to-ceiling windows, and the views are sure to make you feel like the tower’s original occupants: Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and Frank Sinatra among them. The Tower Bar, located in gangster Bugsy Siegel’s former apartment, serves top-notch food in a space reminiscent of a 1940s supper club.
