Today on Good Morning America, the mom of Blu Ivy discussed her new movie Epic and her role as a parent.
By now, we are all very aware that Beyoncé runs the world. Holding court at the Super Bowl halftime show, Queen Bey didn’t missed a step as she twirled her hair and danced across the stage—it was inspiring to watch. And much to our excitement, the mom of Blu Ivy Carter is taking on all manner of new endeavors this summer: She has a new collection of swimwear for H&M and a new line of shoes with Stuart Weitzman, and she’s currently on her sold-out-within-minutes world tour.
So, with both music and now fashion under her belt, Beyoncé is taking dominion over the silver screen. Come May 24th, fans can hear her lend her voice talents to the Disney animated adventure Epic, one of summers best new movies for kids, for which Bey plays Queen Tara.
“You know, I was so honored when they asked for me to do this role, and I was actually pregnant at the time,” she said in an interview with Good Morning America. “And I thought, ‘you know, by the time this comes out my daughter will understand it’s my voice’ and what an incredible, cool point.” With stars like Aziz Ansari, Amanda Seyfried and Pitbull also lending their voices to the cast, Epic is definitely on our must-watch list this summer. As a queen of the forest, Beyoncé alone is worth it.
And though she wears more hats than ever now, Mrs. Carter makes her role as the mom of Blu Ivy as her priority. “I just want to make sure that she can have a healthy, safe, normal life,” she said. “She’s my priority. And life is completely different now. So feel really, really lucky that I can still do what I love, and now have a way bigger meaning. And that’s to be her mother.”
