Most expectant moms know that whatever they put into their bodies will directly affect their unborn child, but that goes a lot further than opting for kale chips over Cheetos. It’s important to also take a hard and careful look at our beauty, bath and skincare products when we’re curating our pregnancy essentials.
Ingredients commonly found in beauty products, like retinoids, salicylic acid and parabens can be harmful, especially while pregnant or breastfeeding. Because we certainly don’t want to expose our unborn children to potentially toxic chemicals absorbed through the skin, many moms-to-be put organic beauty products at the very top of their list.
“My beauty must-have during pregnancy was pure coconut butter for my body to prevent stretch marks. For my face, I would use the organic skin brand line, Isun,” says Bay Area mom Agatha Luczo, who as a model and mother of three definitely knows her beauty products.
If you’re expecting or breastfeeding, be sure to read the label and opt for safe, organic products whenever possible!
