This NYC boutique design studio co-owner shares her desert island essentials.
Breanne Simpson is the co-owner of Brejer, a boutique design studio in New York. This year, the husband and wife team has been busy designing these photo books, cards, and personal stationery exclusively for Shutterfly. And beyond that, their fabric for Robert Kaufman was just released. It’s a fun Paris collection called Mon Amie—great for kids’ room decor, bags, and quilting projects. They also recently launched the Brejer online shop, where people can purchase Brejer pillows, aprons, and stationery. The couple is currently in India traveling and gaining inspiration for their new collection coming out soon, so we’d say 2013 is off to a good start! But before Simpson left, we caught up with her and asked about the book, CD, and movie she would bring if she were stuck on a desert island. Books:
I love books about survival, love, and overcoming incredible adversities. Here are my favorites: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand, and A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. These books motivate, inspire, and challenge me to be a stronger person.
Music:
I love Spanish music. It’s always fun, upbeat, and gets me dancing. Juanes is one of my favorite artists!
Movie:
Life is Beautiful, directed by Roberto Benigni. The main character is a Jewish-Italian shop owner who is put into a concentration camp with his wife and four-year-old son. The love the father has for his child as he gives hope, love, and protection during indescribable challenges makes me cry every time I watch this movie!
