The Chicago Picasso at the Daley Center, commonly referred to as “The Picasso,” is not only a well-known landmark and a major work of art, but has also become a central hub around which Chicagoans gather. The remarkable 50-feet steel sculpture was unveiled in 1967 after local architect William Hartmann personally asked Pablo Picasso to create a sculpture to complement the new Daley Center. Picasso agreed and gifted his artwork to the city, free of charge.
