Some of us are more blessed than others when it comes to metabolism. Unfortunately, even if you have been accused of having a hollow leg during your youth, around age twenty everyone’s metabolic rate begins to slow down.
Needless to say, there are tons of ways to get proactive and boost your metabolism. Resting metabolic rate is much higher in people with more muscle, so working out is always advised (we’re talking the high-intensity, aerobic kind here). If you can’t get motivated on your own, sign up for an intense session of SoulCycle or throw some short bursts of jogging into your daily constitutional. Staying hydrated is also key, as your body needs water to process calories. There’s also the small-snacks-throughout-the day method (we’re all over that one).
Obsessed as we are with food, we prefer the final option—changing up your diet to include more healthy proteins and metabolism-boosting foods. The gym isn’t happening every day, but eating most certainly is.
