OCCUPATION: VP of Marketing, Versace

MY STYLE: Classic glamour with an edge. I mix high/low and all types of designers—though I typically wear Versace, especially during the week. On the weekend I may have on a blazer, a pair of shorts, and a ruffled shirt. During the week, I usually wear lots of sheath dresses with 5- or 6-inch heels (I don’t wear heels under 5 inches) and a furry, cropped jacket with very wide bell-bottom sleeves, or a lace skirt with a blouse that has oversized sleeves and a tie collar. Other times, I am in a jumpsuit with a Versace blazer and pearls.

I LOVE NEW YORK BECAUSE: The diversity. I love that my children hear six different languages while taking a 20-minute walk to the park. They see people of all colors, religions, and cultures on a daily basis and, of course, there are endless things to do every day.

Hangawi

In a hectic city like New York, there are few better places to escape to than HanGawi—a zen-filled oasis of vegetarian and Korean-inspired dishes. The chef’s special “emperor’s” meal—which includes pumpkin porridge and gluten-free kale pancakes—is so colorful and flavorful that you’ll hardly miss your meat.  And like any good relaxation spot, HanGawi is a shoe-free zone. So remember your socks—or, at the very least, your pedicure!

The Metropolitan Opera

Who doesn’t want to break out the jewels and opera gloves? Few events feel as glamorous and quintessentially New York as the Metropolitan Opera, which offers 27 shows per season at its Lincoln Center stomping grounds. And whether you’re a total newbie or a seasoned vet, you’re sure to benefit from the Met’s state-of-the-art subtitle technology—translations of all lyrics appear on the seat right in front of you! 

Pier 11

Just a few blocks away from the cobblestone paths, pop-up vendors, and tourist exhibits of the South Street Seaport lies Pier 11, an actual working ferry terminal that houses water taxis, historic ships, and, best of all, the $5 IKEA water shuttle (on which kids ride for free!).

Fairway Market Harlem

Manhattan-dwellers who long for spacious aisles and full-size shopping carts will be in heaven at the Harlem branch of this New York food institution. In addition to a nice selection of gourmet cheeses, prepared foods, and an olive bar, Fairway also has a 10,000-square-foot “cold room” filled with kosher, organic, and standard meats and seafood. And if you happen to forget your parka, no worries—the store will let you borrow one during your visit.

The St. Regis New York

There’s nothing wrong with good, old-fashioned luxury, and the St. Regis has plenty of it to go around. With on-call butlers, afternoon tea service, an Alain Ducasse restaurant, and a Bentley to chauffer guests within 15 blocks, visitors will be treated like royalty. Before you leave, be sure to order a Red Snapper at the legendary King Cole Bar—it’s a fancier, modern take on the Bloody Mary.
