CYNTHIA ROWLEY

OCCUPATION: Fashion designer, cofounder of ExhibitionA.com

MY STYLE: Clean, sophisticated, and a little bit artsy

I LOVE NEW YORK BECAUSE: Literally anything you can dream of is here! It’s a melting pot of culture, art, architecture, history, parks, beaches, and even daredevil activities!

Trapeze School New York

Soaring over the piers of New York City might seem like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but at the city’s premiere Trapeze School (TSNY), the opportunity arises seven days a week. For $60, beginners and seasoned flyers can take a two-hour class under the careful supervision of TSNY experts. So whether you’re seeking a thrill, or just trying to get off the couch, this safe and winterized arena has plenty to offer—including standard trapeze, trampoline classes, and partner-based acrobatics.

Bubby’s

What started in the 1990s as a pie company has since evolved into a bustling brunch spot, fixated on its mission to “defend the American table.” Simple recipes and local ingredients abound at both locations (Tribeca and DUMBO), at which diners can supplement Bubby’s signature pastries with roasted vegetable chili, salmon nicoise salad, and—on a slightly more indulgent note—sourdough pancakes and bacon-wrapped meatloaf!

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Development may still be underway, but this recently opened park is already teeming with weekend visitors. We love the waterfront promenade, volleyball courts, and the historic Jane’s Carousel, which has been impeccably restored since its creation in 1922. Today, the fully functional merry-go-round is housed in a glass pavilion designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel.

Hudson Urban Bicycles

This rustic bike garage may seem a little out of place amidst the cobblestone streets of Greenwich Village but—take our word for it—the store’s vending, renting, and repair services are enough to get your wheels turning. Whether you’re into cruisers, mountain bikes, or hybrids, Hudson Urban Bicycls (better known by its acronym, “Hub”) distributes some of the best bikes, tandems, and child carriers around.

Café Cluny

Ferns, driftwood, and other natural details comprise the elegant quirk of this West Village bistro. Despite its prime locale and extoled owner (seasoned restaurateur, Lynn Wagenknecht of Odeon and Café Luxembourg renown), the Cluny kitchen specialties of duck confit and sworfish with peppercorn are reasonably priced.
