If it were up to kids, bedtime would last for hours. One story becomes three stories, water cups need to be filled and refilled and night lights need to be just so. Sometimes it seems they’ll do anything to postpone the eventual goodnight. If it were up to parents, kids would go straight to sleep without a peep. We love a cuddle with our little ones, but at the end of a long day, the need to collapse on the couch outweighs the umpteenth request for a lullaby.
But bedtime doesn’t have to be a battleground. Adding some fun and creativity to your child’s wind-down and bedtime routine can not only help the time feel more special for both of you but also send your child off to the Land of Nod feeling calm and happy.
