Escalante’s, an upscale Tex-Mex chainlet, is a Houston must. Their table-side guacamole is the best around, and the shrimp and crabmeat enchilada topped with a creamy queso blanco sauce will make you weak at the knees. “You can’t come to Houston and not eat Tex-Mex or taste a frozen margarita.” Lisa Holthouse explains, “Although there are Mexican restaurants on every street corner, this one is my favorite. I could swim in the chile con queso, but at least they have baked chips and whole wheat tortillas to offset some of the calories from the swim!”
