Centennial Park is as much a part of Sydney’s history as surfing or the famed opera house. This year, it’s celebrating its 125th anniversary as one of the most beloved destinations in the city. It was initially erected in 1888 in commemoration for the first 100 years of European settlement in Australia—hence the name. Not only is it filled with monuments—like the Federation Pavilion and the Grand Drive—that speak to the history of the land Down Under, it is also a great place for families with playgrounds and kid-approved restaurants.
